Find PayPal subscriptions and recurring payments
PayPal subscriptions and PayPal recurring payments: where to find them in your account, how to cancel them, and how to see them next to your bank payments.
PayPal keeps a list of every merchant you have allowed to take payments automatically, and it is separate from your bank, so a subscription can run for years without appearing under its own name on your statement. To find your PayPal subscriptions, open your PayPal settings, go to payments and choose the option to manage automatic payments, where each merchant and its status are listed.
Where do I find my PayPal subscriptions?
Log in to PayPal, open Settings, choose Payments and select Manage automatic payments. Each merchant you have authorised appears with its status, and you can open it to see the amount, the funding source and the last payment. If a subscription is missing from the list, it may be billed to a card or bank account directly instead.
How do I cancel a PayPal recurring payment?
Select the merchant in the same list and choose Cancel, then confirm. PayPal stops the authority, and the merchant can no longer take payments through your PayPal account under it. Tell the merchant as well, so the contract ends cleanly and nobody chases you for a balance.
If the payment was set up on a card or a direct debit rather than through PayPal, the page on cancelling through your bank covers it.
Why do PayPal payments hide subscriptions?
On your bank statement, a PayPal payment appears as PayPal, and the real merchant is shown only inside PayPal. That makes the subscription hard to spot in a list of transactions and easy to miss when you check your subscriptions.
Connected to Era, your PayPal activity sits next to your bank accounts and cards, so an assistant can list the repeating payments across all of them.
How do I see PayPal subscriptions next to my bank payments?
Connect your accounts to Era and ask Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: "List every recurring payment, including anything paid through PayPal, grouped by merchant." If a statement has a PayPal download, you can upload it to the document library, which reads it and brings its transactions in.
Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all.
