Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Wealthsimple

Connect ChatGPT to Wealthsimple, or Claude, Gemini and Muse: link your Cash, TFSA, RRSP and FHSA to Era and ask any AI assistant about your whole picture.

Wealthsimple is where many Canadians keep their everyday cash, their TFSA, their RRSP and their first home savings in one app, which makes it a rewarding account to ask an AI about. Era links your Wealthsimple accounts to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Meta's Muse, so any of them can answer from your real balances and holdings.

Can you connect ChatGPT or Claude to Wealthsimple?

Yes. You link your Wealthsimple accounts to Era, and Era becomes the one connection that Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Muse all share. You sign in to Wealthsimple once, approve what Era may read, and every assistant you add afterwards sees the same up-to-date picture of your cash, your registered accounts and your investments.

How do you connect Wealthsimple to Era?

The setup takes about five minutes and happens once, however many assistants you add later. Era never sees or stores your Wealthsimple password, because you sign in on a secure screen and approve read access yourself. Here are the steps.

  1. Create an Era account at era.app.
  2. Start a connection from Era Context and choose Wealthsimple from the list of institutions.
  3. Sign in to Wealthsimple in the secure window and approve read access.
  4. Add Era to the assistant you like best. The guides for Claude and ChatGPT take about five minutes each.

Live connections are part of Era's paid plans. On the free Basic plan you can add Wealthsimple accounts by hand, or bring in a statement, and ask the same questions about the figures you enter. If a connection pauses, reconnecting from Era Context takes a minute and your history stays where it was.

What makes Wealthsimple different to ask an AI about?

Wealthsimple spreads one person's money across products that most banks keep in separate apps: a Cash account, registered accounts such as a TFSA, an RRSP and an FHSA, non-registered investing, trading and crypto. Each has its own balance and rules, which is exactly the tangle an assistant is good at laying flat.

With Era in the middle, you can ask questions that cross those products:

  • "How much did I put into my TFSA and my FHSA this year, and how does that compare with what I planned to save?"
  • "What did I spend from my Cash account on groceries and restaurants over the last three months?"
  • "Across all my Wealthsimple accounts, how much sits in cash and how much is invested?"
  • "Which of my regular deposits went to my RRSP, and which went to my down payment fund?"

Because Era also holds your other banks, the same question can include the chequing account your pay lands in, or the credit card you use for travel, with no switching between apps.

How do you use Claude with Wealthsimple?

Claude suits the longer conversations, such as planning a year of contributions or checking whether your savings rate matches your goal for a first home. Once Era Context is added, you ask for a summary of your Wealthsimple balances and Claude reads them directly, then follows up on whatever you ask next.

How do you use ChatGPT with Wealthsimple?

ChatGPT suits the quick questions you ask on your phone, such as how much is in your Cash account before a purchase. After you add Era to ChatGPT, it answers from your Wealthsimple balances and transactions, and what you told Claude about your goals is already there, because the memory belongs to Era and not to one assistant.

How do you use Gemini with Wealthsimple?

Gemini works the same way through Era. If you live in Google's apps, you can ask Gemini to compare what your Wealthsimple investments earned with what you saved from your pay, and it answers from the accounts you have connected instead of guessing. Moving between assistants never means starting over.

How do you use Meta's Muse with Wealthsimple?

Muse reaches Era in the same way as the other assistants once you have approved it. You can ask it for a plain-language read on your Wealthsimple spending, or for what changed in your Cash account this week, and it answers from the same connected data as every other assistant.

How do you use Poke with Wealthsimple?

Poke answers by text message, which suits the questions that come up away from a screen. With Era connected, you can text a question about a Wealthsimple balance or a recent transaction and get the answer in the same thread.

The guide to texting your money with Poke and Era walks through the setup.

What can you do with Wealthsimple statements and tax slips?

Era's Document Library reads the statements and slips you upload and files them for you, and the transactions in a statement can be brought into a manual account. A statement from before you connected, or the T5 and T5008 slips that arrive at tax time, then join everything else, and every assistant can answer from them.

Is it safe to connect Wealthsimple to an AI?

You approve each connection yourself. Era reads your accounts through regulated connections, never stores your login, and keeps a record of what each assistant has asked for. That matches the idea behind Canada's consumer-driven banking framework, which is that you decide who may see your financial data and for what purpose.

The guide on whether it is safe to give AI your financial data goes through the details, and you can remove any assistant from Era Context whenever you like.

What else can you connect alongside Wealthsimple?

Most people hold money in more than one place, and Era connects RBC, TD, BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, Desjardins, Banque Nationale, Tangerine and EQ Bank alongside Wealthsimple. Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all.

The Canadian open banking guide explains how it fits together, and Era, Monarch, Wealthsimple or KOHO? helps if you are choosing a budgeting app.
