Wealthsimple's ChatGPT and Claude link, explained

Wealthsimple ChatGPT and Claude link explained: what Penny does, what arrives in early 2027, and how to connect Wealthsimple to any assistant with Era today.

On November 5, 2026, Wealthsimple announced Penny, an AI assistant that can move money and trade, and said ChatGPT and Claude will be able to connect to your account from early 2027, with each action approved by you. If you would rather talk to ChatGPT or Claude about your Wealthsimple accounts now, Era connects them today.

What did Wealthsimple announce?

Penny is Wealthsimple's own assistant, and the company has said that ChatGPT and Claude will link to it in early 2027, with the client approving each action. The direction is clear: investing and banking are heading toward being run through the assistant you already use.

That is good news for anyone who holds money at Wealthsimple, since the link will be built with the client's approval at its centre.

Can I use ChatGPT or Claude with Wealthsimple now?

Yes, through Era. Link your Wealthsimple accounts, whether a chequing account, a TFSA, an RRSP or a non-registered account, and add Era to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. The assistant can then answer questions about your balances, holdings and spending using your real numbers.

Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all, so Wealthsimple sits alongside RBC, TD, BMO and Desjardins in one place. The guides to connecting Claude to your bank account and connecting ChatGPT take about five minutes.

What is the difference between Penny and an assistant connected through Era?

Penny will know your Wealthsimple accounts, and it is built to act inside them. An assistant connected through Era sees everything you choose to connect, so a TFSA at Wealthsimple, a chequing account at a big bank and a credit card appear in one conversation.

The two fit together well. Use Penny for what happens inside Wealthsimple, and use Claude or ChatGPT through Era for the view across all your accounts. Money movement through Era is in private beta, off by default for every key, and every transfer needs your approval.

What does Wealthsimple look like in a hub that every assistant shares?

You get the same Wealthsimple figures in every assistant, and memory that follows you, so what you told Claude about your goals is already known to ChatGPT. You can share a space with a partner, have your statements and tax slips read and filed, and watch your financial health with the analysis behind it.

If you are not sure what to ask first, try these questions to ask an AI about your money.

Is it safe?

Yes. You approve each connection yourself, you can disconnect any assistant at any time without affecting the others, and your data is not sold or used to train AI models. Era never sees your Wealthsimple password, and every assistant sees only what you have allowed.
