Does my bank have an MCP? RBC, TD, Wealthsimple

Does my bank have an MCP server? RBC, TD, BMO, Desjardins and Wealthsimple, and how to connect any Canadian bank to ChatGPT or Claude through Era today.

None of the big Canadian banks offers a customer-facing MCP server you can plug into Claude or ChatGPT today, and Wealthsimple has said its own link arrives in early 2027. You can still connect RBC, TD, BMO, Desjardins and Wealthsimple to your assistant now through Era, which links your accounts once and hands them to every assistant you use.

What is an MCP, and why are people asking their bank for one?

An MCP server is a standard doorway through which an AI assistant can ask a service for information and, with your approval, act. People ask whether their bank has one because it would let Claude or ChatGPT see their real accounts instead of guessing from numbers typed into a chat.

Banks move carefully, because a doorway for assistants has to say who an assistant acts for and who is accountable. Meanwhile some have been blocking agents that sign in with a customer's password, which is the opposite of a proper doorway.

Does RBC, TD, BMO or Scotiabank have an MCP server?

Not one you can use as a customer. RBC, TD, BMO, CIBC and Scotiabank are, by the news reports of October 28, 2026, limiting personal AI agents rather than opening a connector for them, and we found no consumer MCP from any of them as of 6 November 2026.

That is why so many people searching for an RBC or TD connector land on a dead end. The way through is not to wait for the bank but to connect the account somewhere built for assistants, with your bank's own sign-in doing the proving.

What about Wealthsimple and Desjardins?

Wealthsimple announced an assistant called Penny on November 5, 2026 and says ChatGPT and Claude will be able to connect to it from early 2027, with the client approving each action. It is a strong sign that investing platforms see assistants as customers' natural interface.

In the meantime, Wealthsimple accounts connect to Era today, and so do Desjardins accounts, alongside RBC, TD and the rest. Our explainer on Wealthsimple's ChatGPT and Claude link covers the details.

How do I connect my Canadian bank to my AI?

Link the account in Era with your bank's own sign-in, which means Era never sees your password, then add Era to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any assistant that supports MCP. After that you can ask for balances, spending, recurring charges, holdings and your financial health in plain language.

Era connects accounts across the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, and 40+ countries in all. The guides to connecting Claude to your bank account and connecting ChatGPT show each step.

What do I get that an MCP from one bank would not give me?

A bank's own connector would show you one bank. Era gives you one hub that every assistant connects to, across every bank, card and investment account you hold, with memory that follows you from Claude to ChatGPT to Gemini, so you explain your goals once.

You can share a space with a partner or roommates, have statements, pay stubs and tax slips read and filed for you, and follow your financial health in figures with the analysis behind them. You never need your bank to ship an MCP at all.

Is it safe, and what if my bank blocks agents?

You approve each connection yourself, you can disconnect any assistant at any time, and your data is not used to train models. Because assistants talk to Era and not to your bank, a bank's rule about agents that sign in with a password does not apply to them.
